Norwood’s Oamaru dealership began in 1990, when Chris Johnson started the company then called Johnson's Tractors and Machinery' which mainly serviced tractors and trucks. During that time he was appointed the South Canterbury dealer for Nissan Diesel, Croplands Spray Equipment and many other farm machinery brands.

In March 1995, with the addition of a business partner, Peter Gluyas of Gluyas Motor Group in Ashburton, they started the new company Johnson Gluyas Tractors Limited and were appointed the Ford Tractors distributorship for the South Canterbury region. Norwood acquired the business in August 2020.

Nationally, Norwood has been keeping farmers moving for more than 70 years now. And we intend to keep doing so for many years to come.

Norwood Oamaru serves customers as far south as Hampden and as far west as Birchwood and covers a range of sectors in the diverse region including sheep and beef, dairy, horticulture, ag contracting, lifestyle and local government.
